DD®

Pre-cultural soil disinfectant for the control of nematodes with fungicidal, insecticidal and herbicidal side-effects, containing 1160 grams 1,3-dichloropropene/ liter.

General

The soil fumigant 1,3-dichloropropene is the active ingredient with a very large performance range as a soil fumigant for the control of free-living nematodes, cyst nematodes and root knot nematodes. Furthermore, longer-lasting soil sealing with plastic film offers fungicidal action and considerable herbicidal activity on annual weeds, clovers and Cyperus.

Both direct and indirect fungicidal effects have been observed on Rhizoctonia, with indirect effects arising through the increase of crop resistance by the prevention of lesions that enable penetration of fungal attack by Fusarium, Pythium and Phytophthora, to name but a few. There is also a certain degree of control over other fungal diseases caused by Verticillium, Sclerotinia, Phomopsis, Pyrenochaeta and Didymella. Different stages of some arthropods and slugs are also controlled, while indirect virus control is achieved through the killing of vector nematodes.

For such uses, the DD® range corresponds perfectly to alternative means of soil disinfestation in view of the phasing out of methyl bromide according to the provisions of the Montreal protocol for the protection of the stratospheric ozone layer.

The DD® range consists of the following 2 products lines :

  • DD92®,DD95®, liquid formulations for shank application
  • DD90®, an EC formulation for application through drip irrigation
